Overview

SquareBurger is a gem nestled at 200 N 6th St in Philadelphia, perfectly positioned near the lively Franklin Square Park. This hamburger joint may come as a modest kiosk rather than a sprawling restaurant, but don't let its size fool you. Its focus is clear—delivering quality burgers and classic sides with a fresh twist, all in a casual, friendly environment that welcomes locals, tourists, and families alike.

The heart of their menu lies in expertly crafted hamburgers, featuring the signature SquareBurger Angus beef burger served on a soft brioche bun, dressed simply with lettuce, tomato, and a distinctive herb aioli that adds an unexpected layer of flavor. For those seeking variety, the Veggieburger stands out with seasoned brown rice, wild mushrooms, black beans, and a creamy avocado aioli, catering well to plant-based diners. Their burger of the month keeps the offering exciting and dynamic.

What truly elevates SquareBurger beyond the norm is their dedication to sides and shakes. The Bucket of Crispy Waffle Fries is frequently lauded by patrons as some of the best they've ever had—golden, crunchy, and cooked just right. Sweet Potato Fries and Shoestring Fries add more choice for those who savor crispy perfection. Paired with a Vanilla or Cake Milkshake, or even their rotating specialty shakes like Blueberry Cobbler, the experience becomes indulgent and memorable. Customers rave about the freshness and quality, with some claiming these shakes rival those from larger chains.

Beyond food, the atmosphere reflects the park’s relaxed, communal vibe. The stand’s approachable staff, like Chris at the register and Nelson behind the grill, offer attentive and upbeat service, making every visit feel personal. This warmth was captured by a visitor who arrived just before closing time yet was welcomed to place an order rather than hurried away. Such gestures leave lasting impressions and add to the sense of community.

SquareBurger is ideal for a casual outing, whether it’s a family field trip, a park day with friends, or a simple craving for a well-made, no-fuss burger and fried accompaniments. The location near Franklin Square not only provides a vibrant backdrop filled with events, seasonal light shows, and fire pits but also invites guests to relax and enjoy their meal outdoors. This combination of quality food, friendly service, and a lively, approachable setting ensures SquareBurger stands out as a local favorite worth seeking out in Philadelphia's bustling culinary scene.

I have been here twice in the past two months. Their food is awesome. Not a huge selection but what they do offer is excellent. I can truly say the best burgers I have ever had. The chicken tenders and fries also taste amazing. If you are in the area I do recommend.

Food was surprisingly delicious considering the small stand they have. The churros we ordered were made fresh, one of the best we had. Ice cream sundae was good and the fries too.

Walking through Philly with my friend and I noticed that we were passing "Franklin Square Park" so I told him to stop because I heard of this spot from yelp and I had to expierence it. As I approach the kiosk I see the staff cleaning up, looking like they were ready to go home. I look at my watch and notice that it's 5:56 and they close at 6. So instead of being "That Customer" I asked them when they would be re-opening, to which they told me, "It's not problem man go ahead and order something if you want it you still have time." Now THAT'S customer service! I was impressed because I know if I was in their shoes I probably wouldn't have been so nice. I noticed that their milkshake of the month was "Blueberry cobbler" so I ordered one. It was seriously the best milkshake I've had. Better than anything CookOut or Sonic produces in HR. I let my friend grab a taste and he agreed. I can't speak on their food, but If you're in Philly do yourself a favor and grab a milkshake from SquareBurger.

Service was okay, and the food and drinks were fine. But I have to say; I went here (to the park) on a field trip for a good 6 hours once, and this park is where I made lasting memories, and a really tight friendship with a group of people. Would 10/10 recommend for a school trip!!

Food was surprisingly delicious. We were hesitant from other reviews, but they have the best waffle fries we'd ever had! Ask for extra crispy, they're happy to adjust for you. Customer service was easily 5-stars too. Chris was behind the reg and was a great face to represent the SquareBurger. Nelson was cooking that night and did an amazing job. We finished our fries and Pumpkin Spice Milkshake then went back for another bucket of fries! We'll be back for sure. (If you go now for the "Franklin Square Holiday Festival", you can eat and drink by one of many fire pits and enjoy a ligth show every 30 minutes)
